This is an introductory course on Computer Vision offered to undergraduate and graduate students. The goal is to develop understanding of the fundamental concepts in computer vision and enable students to understand and develop applications using existing tools. Students will be given theoretical and programming assignments targeted towards solving real-world computer vision problems. Groups of two or three will do a course project and show a demonstration at the end of the semester.

  • Students are able to apply techniques for feature extraction and representation, tracking, segmentation, object detection and recognition.
  • Students are able to apply ideas from single and multi-view geometry in applications requiring depth/3D estimation.
  • Student are able to Look up relevant literature and identify potential solutions for a given computer vision problem and implement them using existing tools/libraries (Matlab/OpenCV).
  • Students are able to evaluate and compare quantitative performance of vision algorithms by using appropriate metrics.
