Dr. Tapas Chakravarty

Tapas Chakravarty is Principal Scientist in TCS Research & Innovation wing. He holds a Ph.D (Science) from Jadavpur University. His major area of research is in the field of sensor design, RF/ Microwave components, wireless platforms, statistical modelling & solutions. Tapas began his professional career as Scientific Officer with ‘SAMEER’ – a premier microwave research laboratory of Govt. of India. This was followed by short stints in private engineering colleges & Universities. Since 2007, he is with TCS Research. Tapas has nearly 33 years of professional experience of having led & executed many sponsored R&D projects in embedded systems.

Tapas has nearly 160 publications in various international journals & conferences, co-authored 1 book and holds around 130 patent grants. Tapas is currently amongst the top 10 innovator in TCS. Recently he has received the prestigious Distinguished Scientist award from TCS Research.

Additionally, Tapas has maintained close interactions with academia through numerous M.Tech/ B.Tech project supervisions. He has also supervised 1 Ph.D from Jadavpur University. Tapas is a member of Board-of-Studies in institutes like NIT Andhra, Heritage Institute of Technology etc. Tapas is a Senior Member of IEEE (USA).
