Functional Safety : Why & What

Advances in microelectronics have led to the extensive use of electronic products in applications like aerospace, industrial and medical. These end applications interact with humans while improving the quality of life. On the other hand, they pose risk to life (humans and otherwise) in the event of malfunction. Reliable and behavior, as per agreed definition, of the underlying electronics is a must to avoid risk to life in these applications. The presentation aims to expose the audience to the domain of functional safety in the automotive industry.

In this presentation, I will talk about the need (why) for functional safety and elements driving the implementation (how).
