Finite Element Method, Theory and Computation

The workshop on finite element method, theory and computation is being organized at IIIT Delhi during 17th-22nd July, 2023. This workshop aims to encourage and train final year M.Sc. Students and Ph.D. students working in the field of numerical solutions to partial differential equations. Both theoretical and computational aspects will be covered.

- Basics of functional analysis
- Introduction to distribution theory and Sobolev spaces
- Finite element method for one and two dimensional elliptic problems
- Implementation of finite element method

The department of mathematics provides a vibrant environment for research and teaching in mathematics. The department was set up in 2017, and currently consists of 11 full time faculty members, 3 joint faculty members, one visiting faculty member, and two lecturers whose research areas include Algebra, Algebraic Coding Theory, Number Theory, Combinatorics, Theoretical Computer Science, Applied Cryptography, Computational Mathematics, Functional Analysis, Operator Theory, Partial Differential Equations, Operator Algebras Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Logic and Foundations of Mathematics, and Statistics.

The department offers a four-year undergraduate program: BTech in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (CSAM), and a Ph.D. program in Mathematics.
