About the Institute
Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) was created by an act of Delhi legislature empowering it to carry out R&D, conduct educational programs, and grant degrees. The General Council is the apex body of the Institute, chaired by Hon'ble Lt. Governor of Delhi and the Board of Governors is the policy and decision-making body of the Institute. The Senate is empowered to take all academic decisions.
IIIT-Delhi is rapidly accelerating on the path of becoming one of the leading comprehensive research-led teaching institutes in India, and has proven to be consistently responsive toward the evolving needs of society. The Institute has six academic departments - Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computational Biology, Human-Centred Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences & Humanities. Its research centres include the Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Centre for Design and New Media, Centre of Excellence in Healthcare, Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Mobility, and Centre for Quantum Technologies and Centre for Intelligent Product Development.

Transfer of credits:
IIIT-Delhi has a flexible policy that allows students to pursue academic work and courses at other reputed universities, potentially spending up to two semesters at another university. This opportunity could provide students with valuable experiences and broaden their academic horizons. The maximum credit transfer limit of 40 credits over the entire B.Tech. program, with a cap of 20 credits per semester, ensures that students maintain a balance between their home institution's requirements and external academic pursuits. This policy is designed to encourage exploration and academic enrichment while also ensuring that students stay on track towards their degree goals.
IIIT-Delhi and SUNY Albany Collaboration
IIIT-Delhi (A state university of Delhi) and SUNY Albany (A state university of New York) has signed an MoU for Academic collaborations. This collaboration brings together two institutions renowned for their academic excellence and commitment to innovation.
This collaboration will offer two exciting dual degree program in both UG and PG Level. Below is the details for UG level dual degree program;
Undergraduate Level: 2+2 Dual Degree Program
This partnership opens up exciting opportunities for IIIT-Delhi B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) students to pursue a degree in Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science at SUNY Albany, providing a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills through collaborative research projects, exchange programs, and joint coursework, students benefit from exposure to diverse perspectives and cutting-edge methodologies in the field of forensic science.
By leveraging the strengths of both institutions, this collaboration empowers students to become future leaders in forensic science, equipped with the interdisciplinary expertise needed to address complex challenges in crime investigation and criminal justice.
Highlights of the program
● This 2+2 joint degree program in collaboration with the State University of SUNY Albany offers 10 seats for the existing students who got admitted to the B.Tech. CSE and ECE program.
● Fee: The fee will be charged for 2 years at IIIT-Delhi and 2 years fees will be paid at SUNY Albany University as per their fee structure.
● All students admitted to CSE and ECE programs, through various modes, will be eligible to apply for this program.
● The application will be considered after the end of the 2nd Semester, and a committee will look into the applications. Selected students will be informed during their 3rd Semester.
● The student will join SUNY Albany post-completion of required credits after their Summer Term 2 at IIIT-Delhi (tentatively end of August) .
● Once shortlisted for this program, remaining credits will be completed at SUNY Albany University in their 3rd & 4th Year.
● The course mapping of IIIT-Delhi & SUNY Albany University is done in such a way that students will be able to complete degree requirements of IIIT-Delhi as well as for the SUNY Albany. In case students do not complete the course work at SUNY Albany, they will have the option to come back and complete the requirement at IIIT-Delhi.
● After the completion of the degree requirements of both the Universities, students will get Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Degree of IIIT-Delhi and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Forensic Science Degree of SUNY Albany.
● The students may get three years of OPT (Optional Practical Training) after completing this program.

Innovation & Incubation
IIIT-Delhi has set up a Technology Innovation Hub under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems to catalyze state-of-the-art research, technology transfers, industry engagement, and entrepreneurial activities. IIIT-Delhi is also a part of the Delhi Science and Technology cluster and addresses some of the hyperlocal problems through research.
The Institute has a healthy innovation ecosystem leading to entrepreneurship. The IIITD-Incubation Centre is instrumental in driving the growth of entrepreneurial activities at the IIIT-Delhi campus, which includes providing incubation support, funding, infrastructure, mentoring, etc., to students, faculty members, alumni of the Institute, and other entrepreneurs working on technology start-ups. Funds from DST, MEITY, and the Delhi Government supports the Incubation Centre.
IIIT-Delhi students received funding from famous TV reality show, ‘Shark Tank India’.

Direction to Campus
To reach the campus, coming from Nehru Place on outer ring road, follow these directions:
- After about half KM, turn Right from under the first flyover (it is oneway).
- After about 300 m, turn Left from under the Govind Puri Metro station (there is a IIIT-Delhi sign at this turn).
- After about 300 m, there will be a 'Y' - take the left road of the 'Y'.
- Follow signs for IIIT-Delhi - the main gate is after about 500 m.
From Airport
You have several options for traveling from New Delhi IGI Airport to any location within the city. The airport has two main terminals: Terminal 3 for international flights and Terminal 1 for domestic flights.
Pre-paid taxis: Inside the airport terminals, you'll find official "pre-paid taxi" counters. Here, you can book and pay for your taxi upfront. The rates are fixed, ensuring fair pricing without the risk of overcharging or refusal of service. You can easily locate these counters before exiting the Terminal building.
AC taxi bookings: Another convenient option is to book an AC taxi from a taxi company's counter. These counters are available in both terminals. Once booked, follow the signs to locate the designated pick-up point. Companies like Meru cab and Blue Smart offer this service.
App-based taxi bookings: If you prefer the convenience of app-based bookings, several options are available and operate smoothly in Delhi and offer airport transfers in various car sizes. You can book directly from your phone or, if you're not connected to a data network, visit the counters inside the Terminals or near their pick-up points in the parking lot. Pay attention to signs for their designated pick-up points. The most widely used transportation services in this area are Uber and Ola.
Hotel-arranged transfers: Additionally, many hotels provide airport transfer services for their guests. It's advisable to check with your hotel directly to arrange for this service.
From Railway Station
There are three long-distance train terminals where you can get down (if you are coming by train) to reach IIIT -Delhi. These are: New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and Nizamuddin Railway Station. The nearest railways station is Okhla Station, but not all the trains stop there. Even if you are coming by train you can always book app based taxis to reach IIIT-Delhi from the respective terminal stations.
