Managing climate change and its consequences has acquired urgent proportions. This is reflected in the fact that climate action is adopted as one of the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This is also integral to the Paris Agreement of 2015, which aims to strengthen the ability of countries to deal with the impacts of climate change, through appropriate financial flows, a new technology framework, and an enhanced capacity building framework. In view of this, the theme for Delhi Digital Conclave (DDC’21) this year is "Climate Action for a Sustainable Urban Future'. In the conclave, we will ask following two specific questions as we brainstorm climate action as a concrete policy framework for negotiating climate change:
This will be the latest edition of our annual IIITD Digital Delhi Conclave, which provides a public platform to deliberate on sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the enabling role that digital technologies can play in meeting them.
The conclave brings together scholars, experts and practitioners from the domains of public policy, digital technologies as well as students and concerned citizens to brainstorm, exchange ideas and provide tangible and actionable suggestions. Given our location, and given that the city of Delhi is at the forefront of sustainability related challenges, we endeavour to anchor our discussions in the case of Delhi and NCR region. Several political and administrative leaders from the local government of Delhi are expected to participate in the conclave.
The conclave will be conducted in a hybrid mode. Most of the lectures will be organised online but the pandemic situation permitting, we are keeping the option of inviting selected speakers and participants on campus. Final call will be taken by mid-November. Either way, the structure of the event will be as follows:
