a few words about the project

The project Capacity Building in Robotics & Autonomous Systems in India (IRAS- HUB) [101083029], led by IIIT-Delhi, aims to establish three hubs in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) in India to overcome the sparsity of skilled talent in robotics technology. The Hubs will be equipped with prototyping equipment and robotics software and will train researchers from Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in RAS with experts from EU HEIs. IRAS-HUB is funded by European Education and Culture Executive Agency for three years (2023-2025) with ̌̌~800,000 Euros and involves ten partners from 5 different countries, including four HEIs from India. The partner organizations are:

  1. » International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad, India.
  2. » Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad, India.
  3. » Universita Degli Studi Di Genova, Italy.
  4. » Politechnika Warszawska, Poland.
  5. » Universitat Rovira I Virgili, Spain.
  6. » Creative Thinking Development, Greece.
  7. » Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, India.
  8. » Addverb Technologies, India.
  9. » Polytechneio Kritis, Greece.

Project IRAS HUB envisions to achieve the following impact

The aim of this project is to develop robotics technology for problem-solving in diverse sectors of India, such as agriculture, transportation, etc., promote competencies, capacity building, and training to nurture innovation, start-ups, and aspiring entrepreneurs in robotics, and develop courses in robotics at the level of UG, PG and continued learning of working professionals.

  1. 1. Development of highly knowledgeable and skilled human resources in RAS in India.
  2. 2. Promotion of knowledge generation in robotics technology through basic and applied research.
  3. 3. Development of robotics technology for problem-solving in diverse sectors of India such as agriculture, transportation, etc.
  4. 4. Promotion of competencies, capacity building, and training to nurture innovation and start-ups and aspiring entrepreneurs in robotics.
  5. 5. Internationalization and modernization of Indian HEIs by connecting Indian HEI’s with global efforts in robotics education.

Project IRAS-HUB will achieve the following results

  1. 1. Three RAS hubs set up at and equipped with prototyping equipment and robotics software in three Indian HEIs.
  2. 2. Twenty two faculties from Indian HEIs will be trained in RAS by reputable researchers and experts from EU HEIs.
  3. 3. Eight courses in robotics at Indian HEIs will be developed and/or modernized.
  4. 4. One standardized training program will be developed for the continued learning of working professionals in RAS.
  5. 5. Three industry-driven pilot projects in RAS will be developed in India, one in each Indian HEI.
  6. 6. Two hundred and twenty senior UG and PG students will be taught through the developed and modernized semester-long courses.
  7. 7. Sixtyworking professionals in RAS from other Indian HEIs and robotics industries will be formally trained in RAS through the developed training program.
