Work Package 1: MANAGEMENT : Project Management and Collaboration

Objectives:

  1. 1. Communicate with all the partners to ensure smooth execution of the project in due time and the resources.
  2. 2. Coordinate with EC for smooth flow of the project and to achieve effective communication among the consortium partners and the EU commision.


Activities:

  1. T1.1: Planning of Managerial Activities: During the kick-off meeting, the detailed management plan for the entire project will be finalized. The team will propose ground rules for efficient functioning of the project.
  2. T1.2: Creation of the Reports: Elaborated project reports will be submitted to the EC.
  3. T1.3: Conducting meetings and communication arrangements: Smooth organization of regular meetings will be the responsibility of the management team. Management team will also do the documentation of the meeting and communication activities.
  4. T1.4: Providing Supervisory Support to all the partners: Management will facilitate every partner with necessary pointers to any raised query. Frequent skype conferences will be arranged to update the activities of each partner and provide constructive suggestions to accelerate the implementation of the project.


Work Package 2: PREPARATION :Requirement analysis and state of the art

Objectives:

  1. 1. Assess the necessity of consolidated higher education in robotics for the India’s economy and the nature of collaboration between universities and industries in this field.
  2. 2. Assess the services that will be delivered by the proposed roboticshubs.
  3. 3. Assess the most effective pedagogical approach for experts in the robotics hubs.
  4. 4. Identify EU best practices that can be transferred to India (the target country).
  5. 5. Assess existing courses relevant to robotics where scopes of improvement exist in Indian HEIs.


Activities:

  1. T2.1: Development of Methodology: The methodological approach will be delineated. Set of questionnaire, templates for data collection, guidelines for the focus groups, template for the collection of European best practices will be defined at this stage.
  2. T2.2: Desk research:Relevant data about Robotics and Automated Systems sector in India will be searched and analysis of relevant documents will be performed. Full details on the methodological approach, as well as all the necessary templates will be documented and consolidated in the Methodology Document.
  3. T2.3: Field research: To understand learning requirements, competency requirements of people working in robotics and automated systems in India and to design relevant training methods field research through questionnaires and focus groups will be performed.
  4. T2.4: Identification of European best practices to be transferred to India: Program countries will suggest best practices that are followed in Europe and experts in partner countries will analyse in the Indian context and identify the practices that can be transferred.
  5. T2.5: Program country recommendation report: This report will contain an overview of the results of the research activities and recommendation of the program countries. the development phase of the project will be guided by the conclusion drawn from the recommendations.


Work Package 3: Development - I: Establishment of RAS Hubs and Training

Objectives:

  1. 1. To develop and assess the Continued Education Program (CEP) Resources by EU HEIs.
  2. 2. To set up and equip the IRAS-HUBs in Indian HEIs, based on the EU experience.
  3. 3. To deliver the capacity building programme by EU HEIs for CEP in EU and in India.
  4. 4. To deliver CEP training for working professionals in India by Indian HEIs.
  5. 5. To develop three RAS pilot projects with the involvement of industry.
  6. 6. To guarantee the sustainability of the project, through the creation of a collaboration platform.
  7. 7. To guarantee the collaboration between the IRAS-HUBs in the academia and the industry through the collaboration platform.


Activities:

  1. T3.1: Specifications and Equipping the IRAS-HUB: The task will do the specification and the actual setup of the IRAS-HUBs in India, and present the development of three industry-oriented projects. In particular, it will describe a series of robotics-related use cases developed throughout the project, which will cover a broad span of activities in robotics, e.g., manipulation, autonomous driving, human-robot interaction, validated by companies interested in cooperating with the Indian hubs. The deliverable will include functional specifications, technical documentation, and a validation analysis about the use cases. The robot code developed as part of the use cases will be released open source.
  2. T3.2: Development and Assessment of the Continued Education Program Training Resources by EU HEIs: This task will develop an electronic document assembled by WUT, Poland after having collected all training materials by partners. The training material will be composed of: texts, slides, exercises, customised to the needs of Indian partners. The toolkit will be uploaded on the project web site and made accessible to registered users. It will contain material related to the operation, management, services, and most importantly, on the new methodological approach of the 3 RAS-HUBS that will cover all project objectives.
  3. T3.3: Delivery of the Capacity Building Programme by EU HEIs for CEP in EU and in India: This task will perform delivery of the capacity building programme by EU HEIs for CEP in EU and in India for the faculties of the Indian HEIs.
  4. T3.4: Delivery of the CEP Training for Working Professionals in India by Indian HEIs: This task will assist in the delivery of the CEP program by three IRAS-HUBs in India for the working professionals.
  5. T3.5: Specification of the three RAS projects for IRAS-HUBS: Three RAS pilot projects will be implemented in the target universities in order to establish a first close collaboration with local industry. This task will include the specifications of the project, including objectives, methodology and end-results.
  6. T3.7: Setting up and Managing a Collaboration Website Platform:It will present a detailed plan agreed upon by the EU and Indian HEIs to set-up a Consortium-wide cloud-based collaboration framework enabling quick communication among the partners to share ideas, documents, teaching and training material. Such a collaboration framework will provide a frictionless communication medium for the partners while they are engaged in course development.


Work Package 4: DEVELOPMENT : Capacity Building and Establishment of Robotics and Autonomous Systems Hub

Objectives:

  1. 1. To do the preparation of the capacity building programme.
  2. 2. To develop and assess the curriculum training resources by EU HEIs.
  3. 3. To deliver the capacity building programme by EU HEIs in EU and in India.
  4. 4. To deliver of the semester-long developed and/or modernized courses in India by Indian HEIs.
A tentative list of the courses to be modernized are as follows:
  1. 1. Robotic Control Systems by WUT, Poland.
  2. 2. Visual Perception by URV, Spain.
  3. 3. Perception and Manipulation by UNIGE, Italy.
  4. 4. Computer Aided Design by TUC, Greece.
A tentative list of the courses to be developed are as follows:
  1. 1. Modeling and control of manipulators by UNIGE, Italy.
  2. 2. Mobile Robots by WUT, Poland.
  3. 3. Robotic Intelligence by UNIGE, Italy.
  4. 4. Product Design and Development by TUC, Greece.


Activities:

  1. T4.1: Preparation of the Capacity Building Programme: The first step to prepare the capacity building programme will be the creation of the training macrostructure (methodology) and micro-structure, which means the detailed structure of the capacity building programme (contents, layout for presentation of the contents, agenda, criteria for the selection of experts, evaluation measures, timetable).
  2. T4.2: Development and Assessment of the Curriculum Training Resources by EU HEIs: The second step to prepare the Capacity Building Programme is the creation of training contents and materials by UNIGE, WUT, URV and TUC. Training material and courses will be prepared according to the microstructure developed. Each partner will be in charge of specific parts, assigned according to their expertise. These contents and materials will be assembled in the training toolkit by UNIGE, Italy.
  3. T4.3: Delivery of the Capacity Building Programme by EU HEIs in EU and in India: First, UNIGE, WUT, URV and TUC will be hosting four 5-days capacity-building sessions for Indian experts. Each EU university will be responsible for organizing one session. The focus of each session will be determined during the first phase to match the expertise of the corresponding host EU partner. The European HEIs will organize the logistics of the capacity building sessions and provide the trainers who will deliver them. Secondly, experts from UNIGE, WUT, URV and TUC will provide a 5-days capacity building session in India. During this session, training on the improved courses material will take place to the selected experts and potential faculty members selected by the target universities.
  4. T1.4: Delivery of the semester-long developed and/or modernized courses in India by Indian HEIs: Delivery of the 2 semester-long courses in two semesters to undergraduate/post-graduate students in India by Indian HEIs IIIT Delhi, IIIT-Hyderabad, and IIIT-Allahabad and delivery of the 1 semester-long course in two semesters by Indian HEI GGSIPU.


Work Package 5: QUALITY & EVALUATION

Objectives:

The Quality and Evaluation WP is linked to all the specific objectives of the project since quality assurance is a a prerequisite for the proper project implementation and impact. WP5 will:

  1. ● Evaluate the project planning and execution.
  2. ● Define suitable criteria to supervise the project progress and deliverables.
  3. ● Form the Evaluation Committee (EC) consisting of a representative from all partners.
  4. ● Assuming the external stakeholders involvement to the works of EC.
  5. ● Form the Risks and Conflicts Management Committee (ERCMC) consisting of a representative from all partners.
In particular WP5 addresses the specific objective 06 “Development of Quality culture in Indian HEIs.”, though workshops, the creation of the IQMTs and it’s overall design.


Activities:

  1. T5.1: Quality Plan: Forming the Quality Plan including the forming of Evaluation Committee (EC) and the Risks and Conflicts Management Committee (ERCMC) and elaborating the Elaborating of the Quality and Evaluation Questionnaire. The draft plan will be presented at KoM and finalized by M3.
  2. T5.2: Continuous Quality monitoring: Continuous monitoring the quality of the project, the risks and conflicts using the elaborated Plans and Questionnaire. Transversal.
  3. T5.3: Institutional Quality Monitoring Teams: Forming of IQMTs at Indian HEIs and online workshop(s) on Quality HEIs M6 & M7-M8.
  4. T5.4: IQMTs’ semestral reports: Development of Institutional Quality Reports for monitoring activities and promoting quality culture M12,M18,M24,M30,M36 This task is led by IIIT-Delhi, in order to enhance ownership of the Quality reporting of the Hubs by the Indian HEIs.
  5. T5.5: Selection of External Quality Auditor: Subcontracting the External Quality Auditor. M13.
  6. T5.6: 1st year report on Project Quality and Evaluation: Composing the 1st year report on Project Quality and Evaluation and Risks and Conflict Management results, including suggestions for corrective and improvement measures, if needed.
  7. T5.7: 2nd year report on Project Quality and Evaluation:Composing the 2nd year report on Project Quality and Evaluation and Risks and Conflict Management results, including suggestions for corrective and improvement measures, if needed.
  8. T5.8: 3rd year report on Project Quality and Evaluation:Composing the 3rd year report on Project Quality and Evaluation and Risks and Conflict Management results, including suggestions for sustainability, if needed.


Work Package 6: DISSEMINATION & EXPLOITATION : Promotion & Dissemination

Objectives:

  1. 1. The dissemination objective is to increase the visibility of the established mechanism and its activities. The dissemination will be implemented inside India and the EU.
  2. 2. The target groups are HEI, undergraduate students, postgraduate students and teaching staff, which will be one of the key dissemination means. They will broadcast the idea through the outside community of European and Indian partners.
  3. 3. The dissemination of the results of IRAS-HUB will be done through the levels below.
  4. 4. The synergies among the partners will disseminate the idea directly through the personal contacts, in addition to the role of holding workshops and events.
  5. 5. The industrial sector is targeted in the dissemination strategy. Thus, advertising visits, frequent invitations for stockholders can attract new partners.


Activities:

  1. T6.1: Drafting the Dissemination and Exploitation Plan: Forming the dissemination strategy. This includes the web hosting and the update of general information about the project and its context.
  2. T6.2: Setting up a database of contacts, the project website and online networks: This task includes the forming the database of contacts, the project website and online networks.
  3. T6.3: Creating the dissemination material: The dissemination materials including logo and graphic identity, leaflet (digital and printed copies - 300) and press pack, with some standard press communication will be made. All the above will be produced in EN and Indian taking into account the specific characteristics and interest of projects’ target groups.
  4. T6.4: Issue of newsletters (bi-yearly): The task includes the Issuing of newsletters (bi-yearly).
  5. T6.5: Developing a sustainable operational/business model for Robotics & Autonomous Systems hubs: This task includes creating a sustainable operational/business model for the developed centres. The graphic representation will be accompanied by a descriptive text and will be available in an electronic format. It will be disseminated to relevant stakeholders.
  6. T6.6: Organizing one roundtable about “Robotics and Automation in India; how new Robotics & Autonomous Systems hubs can provide sustainable economic growth”: One roundtable will be organized with the title “How Robotics and Autonomous Systems Hubs are useful for the economic development of India”.
  7. T6.7: Drafting of recommendations:This task involves drafting the recommendations on the basis of the roundtable by URV, Spain with the support of the rest of the partners and will be spread among relevant stakeholders both through mails, regular meetings and will be presented at the final conference and printed.
