B.Tech. Admissions 2020

B.Tech. Admissions 2020 to various programs of IIIT-D will be done through Joint Admission Counselling, JAC-Delhi, and through IIIT-D admission process using UCEED rank (Only for some seats in CSD) and Class XII Marks (Only for some seats in CSSS). Details regarding the number of seats, eligibility, merit list and admission process are given in B.Tech. admission brochure 2020. Admissions for foreign nationals/PIOs/NRIs will be through DASA and directly through IIIT-D process - more details are available here.

About the Institute and B.Tech. Programs

IIIT-D was created by an Act of Delhi Government in 2008. Since then it has gained a high degree of respect within the academic community, and is widely regarded as one of the top Institutions in the country for research and education in IT areas – in particular Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), Applied Mathematics (AM), Bio-Sciences(BS), Social Sciences (SS), Design (DES) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Institute began with its first batch of 60 B.Tech. students in 2008. Since then, it has come a long way with about 100 excellent faculty members. There are about 2150 students consisting of about 1500 B.Tech. students, about 470 M.Tech. students and about 180 Ph.D. scholars.

In a relatively short time, it has earned a good reputation in India and abroad for being a center of quality education and research and is regarded as one of the country’s leading institute for IT education and research. The institute is accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and has been accorded 12-B status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In recognition of its performance, THE (Times Higher Education) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2020 has ranked IIIT-Delhi 133, THE Asia Ranking ranked the institute at 143. The institute is also ranked between 601-800 in THE World University Rankings and between 351-400 in QS Asia University Rankings. NIRF also ranked the institute at number 56 in the year 2020. Education and Placement

The Institute offers seven B.Tech. programs – in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (CSAM), Computer Science and Design (CSD), Computer Science and Social Sciences (CSSS), Computer Science and Biosciences (CSB) and Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI). Induction Program

Incoming students will be invited to an induction program before the start of the program to help them transition from school to college. Expectation from Students

IIIT-D takes academics very seriously and expects all its students to do so. Each semester a student normally does about 5 courses, and each course has a workload of about 10 hrs/week. Hence a student should be ready to work hard – that indeed is the only way to learn.
