PROFESSIONAL CANDIDATES REGISTRATION (PCR)

Who is a Professional Candidate?

Professionals working in Industry, Research Laboratories, Government Departments/Agencies, etc. who are interested in attending one or more courses for their self-development/knowledge up-gradation. A professional candidate is defined as the one who is employed in an industry, a Govt. Organization, Research Laboratory, etc.

Fee for a Professional Candidate

The fee per credit will be computed in accordance with the prevailing first-year fee of UG programs, i.e., by dividing the annual fee of the first year B.Tech. student by 32 credits. "Currently, for years 24-25, the B.Tech. Fee is 4.50 lakhs, so it comes out to be Rs. 14,000 per credit." In addition, a professional candidate will be required to deposit a ‘Security Deposit’ of Rs.10,000/- (refundable).

Process

  • Course instructors can decide whether to accept professional candidates in their respective courses. Such courses, where the instructor has agreed, will be advertised to attract good professional candidates.
  • The Head of the Department, in consultation with the course instructor, would check the qualification and necessary background for all such applications. The eligible candidates would then be recommended to DOAA for approval.
  • All professional candidates attending courses will have to satisfy all the course requirements similar to other regular students, e.g., appearing in all evaluations, submitting assignments, projects, etc.

Transcripts and Certificates

  • After completion of the course, the institute will provide a transcript to each candidate mentioning the name of the course, the number of credits, and the grade received.
  • Based on the performance, a candidate may also be awarded a certificate of satisfactory completion of the course, if and only if the grade received in the course is at least a ‘C’ grade.

Facilities to Professional Students

  • All candidates would be issued a temporary Identity Card.
  • They would be allowed to use the Library facility for consultation purposes only.
  • Candidates will be provided with all the facilities required for the coursework.
  • Such candidates will not be registered for Thesis, Independent Study, BTP and other such courses which do not have lectures.
  • A professional candidate is not entitled to campus accommodation.
  • The Institute will not be liable for any damages on account of any injuries/loss sustained by such candidates during their coursework at the Institute.

The relevant terms and conditions may be suitably incorporated in the offer of admission.
